3+1 movies that cooking lovers must see
2023. 08. 14.
1) No Reservations
Catherine Zeta-Jones stars in the 2007 romantic comedy No Reservations. The character he portrays in the film finds himself facing a man (Aaron Eckhart) whose world view is radically different from his own. And this tension culminates between them in the kitchen of an elegant restaurant.
The relationship between the two of them while cooking (and of course also outside the kitchen) takes a turn toward the ending typical of romantic comedies. And as viewers, we have nothing else to do but look longingly at all the scenes where something quite masterful comes out of their hands.
2) Chef
For street food lovers, a must-see evening program is Jon Favreau's film Chef. Such mouth-watering dishes are prepared before our eyes that will make you want to start making some delicious Cuban sandwiches after watching the movie (or even during it).
At the same time, we can also witness how a disgraced star chef wakes up to the fact that life is not only about work - even if real works of art come out of his kitchen. And that perhaps it is not so impossible to reconcile work with private life if you allow your profession and your loved ones to meet each other in some way.
3) Comme un chef
Jean Reno and gastronomy: what will become of it? Well, a highly entertaining comedy in which everything imaginable is on the table: in addition to the science and art of cooking, money, love, competition, and even the unpredictability of fate.
Comme un chef leaves no doubt that it is a good decision to devote a narrow hour and a half to it. The only mistake you can make is sitting down to watch the movie hungry. Because if anything, the work of the chefs is sure to make us hungry, and after the last scene, it's quite likely that our first trip will lead to the kitchen.
+1) Ratatouille
Finally, the list should include an animated film, the Oscar-winning Ratatouille!
Ratatouille was Pixar and Disney's first film together, and let's face it: they certainly managed to create something unforgettable. The film about an enthusiastic and purposeful little rat is full of funny and unexpected twists and manages to capture the passion for gastronomy in a breathtaking way.
The creators paid particular attention to authenticity. They studied the specialties of top-class restaurants and the work of chefs and cooks for a long time and thoroughly. And the result speaks for itself. We even want to eat ratatouille (the French lecho) and other heavenly dishes, knowing for sure: we are only seeing drawings, not real food.
